Roger Widman and the crew of Quintessence win the American Yacht Club Fall Series PDF  | Print |  E-mail

October 1, 2004. After two weekends of extremely close racing, Roger Widmann and Quintessence won the American Yacht Club Fall Series on a tie breaker over Coyote owned by Bill Clemens. The competitors saw decent winds throughout the regatta with windspeed in the 23-25 knot range for the second Saturday of racing. Unusual for this time of year on Long Island Sound! Quintessence won the tie breaker by winning three races over the course of the regatta, Coyote won two. Endurance came in third only four points back from the top two boats.

The Farr 395 has developed into a highly competitive fleet on the East Coast with all the major regattas in which the boat participated being won by a different boat. Endurance won the American Yacht Club Spring Series, Avalanche won the New York Yacht Club One Design Regatta and now Quintessence in the American Yacht Club Fall Series. The next event is the Manhassett Bay Regatta being held October 19-20 and 26-27.
