14 April 2003. Please be advised that the LIBERTY REGATTA has been scheduled for Friday, May 30 - Sunday, June 1, 2003, with Sail Newport being used as the launch and haul location. This event replaces the Newport Gold Regatta for this year.

The racing for Friday will include the One Design fleets only and will start at 1:00 pm to allow for registration and weigh-ins to take place Friday morning, May 30th for those that are not able to register and weigh on Thursday. Saturday and Sunday racing will include all fleets and will have an earlier start. We also understand that the popular "Around the Island Race" may still take place on Sunday depending on weather for the Regatta and the number of races completed prior to Sunday.

The Liberty Regatta will be run by Atlantic Management and the PRO for the event will be Tom and Beth Duggan, the same Race Officers that were going to run Newport Gold.

Registration details are still being worked out and a website with the NOR up by the end of the week. Keep checking the Mumm 30 Class web site for more details.

We look forward to the Newport Gold Regatta returning in 2004 and believe that this will continue the great One Design Racing and competition we all know and enjoy!
