14 June - With the first start at noon, the fleet headed South beating into a light but building southerly. A bright warm day promised a solid sea breeze in the afternoon. The weather briefing by Pat Healy also promised some thunderstorms for this afternoon and tonight. The first of these arrived in Annapolis at 1700 hours with a visibility limiting downpour and the expected strong breeze from a new direction.

16 June 1030 - One vessel has reported to the Race Committee in Newport that they have been forced to retire. The yacht Lickety Split (PHRF Class III) called at 0911 on 15 June to report that having cleared the Bay and sailing in 18 kts apparent they suffered a shroud failure. There were no injuries and they are returning to Annapolis.

16 June 1620 - The yacht Dirigo (PHRF Class II) reports that they have lost their steering off Cape May, NJ and are withdrawing. There were no injuries and the vessel is bound for Annapolis steering via their autopilot.

16 June 2100 - The yacht First Light (PHRF Class I) reports she is off Cape May and withdrawing as a result of equipment problems. There were no injuries.

17 June 0145 - The yacht Reindeer (PHRF Class I) reports that she is withdrawing. She blew out her mainsail while sailing in 25-30 kts from the ENE. She has arrived safely in Atlantic City with no injuries to her crew.

17 June 0930 - The yacht Maggie (PHRF Class II) called to report that she had withdrawn off Rehobeth, DE at about 1900 hours on 16 June. Wind was 25-28 kts from the NNE. She is returning to Annapolis. No injuries to her crew.

17 June 1235 - The yacht Falcon (PHRF Class III) called to report that she had withdrawn at about 1900 hours on 16 June.Wind was 30 kts. She is returning to the Chesapeake via Delaware Bay. No injuries to her crew.

17 June 2000 - First to finish honors go to Donnybrook (PHRF Class I) at 16:28:36, an elapsed time of 75:48:36. Captain Muldoon reported losing all electronics when they went through the second thunderstorm on the Chesapeake and that during this storm off the Potomac R. the boat speed reached 19 kts. Andrea (PHRF Class IV) reported that at 1700 she withdrew from the race 20 nm South of Atlantic City, NJ. She reported no major damage and no injuries. Sjambok (PHRF I) was the second boat to finish at 20:03:05 followed by Y2K (PHRF Class I) at 20:18:36, making Y2K the Class I corrected time leader.

18 June 0600 - No additional finishers overnight. No race boats visible on the horizon from Castle Hill Light.

18 June 1055 - Nasty Medicine (PHRF Class I) was the fourth boat to finish at 10:16:38 followed by Vamp (PHRF Class I) at 10:34:57.

18 June 1215 - Nine boats have finished. The fleet is beginning to arrive!!

18 June 1530 - The total number of boats that have now finished is 21. The first boat in the IMS Class, Dawn Treader finished at 14:51:10. Check the results link on this page.

18 June 2100 - Only two boats remain at sea racing. Who'd have guessed this morning!

19 June 2100 - The last race boat crossed the finish line at Castle Hill light this morning at 10:31:08. All boats are accounted for.
