Below are various forms and information you will need to complete in order to participate in any Farr 395 One Design Class event.
The measuring/inspection process. Class measurers will be at each event to check measure sails, safety equipment and deck gear compliance to the class rule. Depending on the number of boats entered into the event, this is typically one to two days prior to the regatta. Spot checks may be performed after racing as well.
Appendix 6 of the Farr 395 Rule Book which governs helmsmen eligibility needs to be completed by the owner and any alternate helmsman at least two weeks before the event if they have not already done so for a previous regatta this year. The owner only needs to be approved once by the Committee. Any alternates are approved for the current year and for that specific boat only and must reapply at the beginning of the next year.
ISAF Competitor Classifications - US Sailing is no longer issuing competitor classification rulings and all US Sailing rulings expired at the end of 2003. All amateur competitors must now have a classification with ISAF. To apply to ISAF, please click HERE. Application to ISAF is a 2 step process - you must first register with ISAF Sailor to receive a user name and password. Once you receive this, you must then log in to ISAF Sailor to complete the application for classification. Please make sure you complete both steps.
While two group 2 or 3 competitors are permitted during One Design Class racing, only one of them shall be permitted in the position of either tactician or mainsail trimmer.
The Sail/Crew Declaration must be submitted to Farr International at least two weeks prior to each regatta and must include crew members and their Group ratings. The sail declaration portion may be completed during the regatta measurement/inspection process. Please note, as per Class Rule 20.6, your sails do not need to be buttoned until January 1, 2002.
The Yacht Owner Compliance Form needs to be completed and signed by all owners, the tactician for the event and the boat captain. This form may then be forwarded to Farr International or turned in during the regatta measurement/inspection process.
Good Luck in your next regatta!
